Using Google Sheets, students will use the Cultural Gram section in Utah Online Libary to predict, compare, and contrast facts about a country of their choice along with facts of the United States.  Then using Google sheets, the students will create graphs from the gathered information.

Students will create their own constellations.  They will give it a name, design what it looks like, and write a backstory of how it came to be. This will be paired with Indigenous stories of constellations.  Then, students use the Star Chart app to identify their own constellation and create a story that explains it. Students will use Flipgrid to create and share stories with a wider audience. Students can screen share with Flipgrid to show their constellation. Students can also import their constellations and other images into Flipgrid to have visuals as they narrate their story.

This is a lesson plan that fits the core curriculum for 2nd grade social studies. According to Goshute and Ute tradition, Coyote tales should only be told during the winter time. The tribes ask that the teacher use this lesson and story in the winter months. This lesson utilizes the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute (CTGR) tale, “Coyote Loses His Eyes” and the Ute Indian Tribe of the Uintah and Ouray Reservation (UIT) tale, “The Eye Juggler Coyote” to enhance comprehension skills and provide an introduction to comparing and contrasting plot, characters, theme and setting. The students will also be introduced to similarities and differences between the two tribes. Lastly, students will write a response summarizing using compare and contrast key words.Native peoples tell stories about Coyote and other animals to their children. Based on Coyote’s mistakes, the elders teach children about proper behavior and positive attitudes. The lessons taught help children to avoid making the same mistakes as Coyote and suffering the consequences in their own lives.

This lesson plan asks students to create a new, original film or podcast that is based on a specific element from a text (either a film, written text, or podcast). Students will analyze their chosen text, focusing specifically on character, theme, narrative style, use of sound, or setting analysis. This project will be taught asynchronously over the course of 5-6 class periods.

This lesson teaches students about Digital Citizenship. It covers standard 2A from the ISTE Standards for students and Strand 2 standard 6 and 8 from the DIgital Literacy Sandards and Strands.

This lesson is designed to help high school students assess their current social media footprint and take steps to design a public digital portfolio as part of their understanding of digital citizenship.

In this lesson, students will be asked to read a grade level appropriate story and make a digital storyboard that includes the basic elements of the story. These elements are: characters, setting, beginning, middle and end.  They will illustrate the key elements of the story and use Apple Keynote to create and present a digital slideshow retelling of the story. 

This lesson will walk students through the beginning part of the planning phase of creating a digital story about one of their opinions.

For this lesson, students choose a book to create a book trailer for usng Adobe Spark Video. The students will identify the characters, setting, and plot points of the story and work to retell the story using key details which they will use as they create their video.
