The Girls Who Build Cameras workshop for high school girls is a one-day, hands-on introduction to camera physics and technology (i.e. how Instagram works!) at the MIT Lincoln Laboratory Beaverworks Center. The workshop includes tearing down old dSLR cameras, building a Raspberry Pi camera, and designing Instagram filters and Photoshop tools. Participants also get to listen to keynote speakers from the camera technology industry, including Kris Clark who engineers space cameras for NASA and MIT Lincoln Laboratory, and Uyanga Tsedev who creates imaging probes to help surgeons find tumors at MIT

This Graphic Design 1 curriculum is a comprehensive semester long course in digital media that uses Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator. I started updating this curriculum in the Spring of 2018 and so, if you access the UPDATED GD 1 Curriculum, you will see the most recent additions to my course and have access to all my teaching materials including presentations, lesson plans, video tutorials, student examples, self evaluations and rubrics. Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop and Illustrator)

This lesson plan teaches students about the habitats found around the world and encourages digital fluency by requiring them to explore digital resourses and create an Adobe Photo Page.  First, students will question, discuss, view, explore, read, and research to build their knowledge.  Then they will demonstrate this knowlege by choosing a habitiat, selecting appropriate photos, adding descriptive informational text, and providing correct citations to their projects.  They will then publish and share their projects with their peers.  Intro Image Citation:Nambia Desert Sand, By FuN_Lucky,  PixaBay License https://pixabay.com/photos/namibia-desert-sand-dune-dust-2049203/

This is an intro into Photoshop lesson for students. I use this as the second project of the semester for both my Commerical Art and Photography students to get them to have a better understanding of Adobe Photoshop. The main skills focused on are: the lasso tool, blending, hue and saturation, transforming an image and copy right images. This lesson is for middle or high school and takes about 2 hours hitting both CTE and Art state standards. (The image on the front of lesson plan has one eye and the nose altered.) 

Over the course of a few days,  students will learn to identify characters from stories.  Students will identify a character from a book they have read.  They will draw their character, take a picture of their drawing, and create a post in Adobe Creative Cloud Express on their character.  They will then get to present their post in small groups.

This unit walks students through the research process from pre-writing to publishing using cars as the topic, but it could be adapted for any basic research subject. This lesson is a shared research project for K-2 using Gale in Context on Utah's Online Library culminating in the creation of a class video using Adobe Spark.  Students will organize their research on a topic/detail graphic organizer.  Students will need to be able to read their own writing to provide narration attached to a copyright-friendly photo that is properly cited.

This is a lesson is a designed to help first grade teachers and their students learn about life cycles.  It is a springboard into learning about other animal life cycles, how aniumals are not like thier parents, and the similarities and differences between parents and offspriong. This lesson uses Gale in Context from Utah Online Library culminting in creating an Adobe Spark project. The activities in this lesson can be completed in 30 minute sessions. 

In this activity, primary/elementary students will learn to tell a story from memory, answering the big question: How can you tell a story with pictures and words? Students will be asked: “Do you have a childhood memory that stands out to you? Why do you think you remember it so well?” Building off a combination of Khan Academy videos and lessons, students will then create a story from memory and answer reflection questions.

This is a lesson plan that has students use Adobe Creative Cloud Express to investigate how math is used in everyday life.

In this lesson, students will practice using preterite tense to narrate in the past by describing the craziest day of their life. Students will tell their story on Adobe Spark Video.

In this activity, students will look at historical images to learn about three types of Native American dwellings — teepees, pueblo adobe structures, and hogans. Students will make observations about the types of dwellings in the images. Then students will discuss their observations as a class.

This lesson is for K2 to learn animals vocabulary in Chinese. Students will take photos of animals at home or search photos online and then make a video by using Adobe spark video.

In this lesson, students will learn about parallel structure and various types of phrases in writing, as well as how to use Adobe Creative Cloud Express to create visually appealing images that incorporate text. Students will apply these skills by creating images that use parallel structure and different types of phrases in their text overlays.
