History has many faces in this lesson in which students read Jane Addams Award-winning books to learn about peace, social justice, world community, and equality.

Students will use a Scanning Electron Microscope to observe and classify lichen. Students will design a field-based investigation to determine the relationship between an abiotic factor and lichen.

Writing gets personal when students interview family members in order to write a personal narrative about that person.

Students create a Detective's Handbook based on a detective mystery they have read. The handbooks include expository and descriptive writing, as well as a letter.

Studying the Fibonacci Sequence is our entry point for studying Heredity: Inheritance and variation of traits.

After reading a short memoir and reviewing the genre, students choose how to create a memoir of a family member who is at least a generation older. Students first select a family member to interview, and then craft a set of interview. Students create written memoirs, focusing on one or two unifying themes, and can be presented as a photographic collage, a series of panels telling a story, a painting, a video, a musical composition, a sculpture, or another creative way. Students accompany their work with an artist̍s journal, explaining why they have chosen the particular method of presentation and analyzing their own successes and shortcomings.

This is a 5 day lesson plan that will introduce students to the variety of careers in the fashion, apparel and textile industries.  Students will be introduced to the pathway and degrees available to them in Utah.  Students will be able to participate in different aspects of the industry by designing and creating a textile project. 

Explore the evolving division of duties and powers between the federal and state governments throughout the eras of federalism using an interactive timeline and associated resources.

Social injustice occurs every day all over the world. In this lesson, students research a few historical examples of social injustice, including the Holocaust, the Trail of Tears, and Japanese internment.

This is a lesson introducing students to storyboards and beginning to think about how to create a story to film in a future lesson. Students will work backward to write a storyboard for a short film, will brainstorm and outline their story they want to share, and will then flesh it out as a storyboard and will think about the shot the want, the audio they want to add and they will revise their lessons based on feedbakc from teachers and peers.

Using various reading strategies and resources, students explore the issue of food waste. They also create persuasive arguments and blog posts examining this topic.

This lesson plan revolves around Genius Hour. It is meant for K-2 grade to teach students how to learn about something using Genius Hour. This lesson requires the whole class to pick a question revolving around how living things survive. They will complete the research, creation, and presentation together as a class. Students will examine the purpose, forms, and limitations on government. They will learn about key philosophers like John Locke and explore practical examples of government functions. Students will complete this unit with an understanding of different forms of government, key influences on American democratic principles, and distinguishing features of governments around the world.

In this unit plan, educators will be guided through four 30-minute days to help teach students about the game of four square including vocabulary, rules, and a video.

This lesson/unit is all about Fractions!  Students will access a digital learning site to explore fractions through multiple media sources.  They will watch videos, read books, play games, and visit websites all designed to help them develop a deeper understanding of fractions.  To demonstrate their knowledge, students will then work with their peers to complete a digital notebook, a hyperdoc, a jamboard, and a google form.  Students will be empowered to learn because this lesson/unit gives them choice!

Students gather factual information about frogs and toads to create nonfiction and fiction stories. Drawing is used for prewriting.

Students bring the print-rich environment of the community into the classroom through the use of environmental print, enabling emergent readers to delight in the realization that they are indeed readers.

This is the first lesson in a set of lessons to teach about animal and plant adaptations and their relation to survival in a Genius Hour Format. Genius Hour is just a process where students choose an interesting topic, generate a deep question and research to find the answer to that question. The students then create a product that showcases that learning. Background knowledge for this lesson uses resources from the State Board of Education and Generation Genius but they are not essential to the lesson. image from pixabay, no attribution required

Overview:Students will be creating a video regarding a topic of their choice. In terms of content, it is very flexible. It can be a short documentary, a how-to video, a presentation, a video showing off a hobby, ect. They will be spending most of their time researching and practicing for their video, with time taken aside to collect feedback from their peers in terms of stand-up meetings and exit tickets.
