This lesson provides students with an opportunity to collaborate in a group setting while determining the specific housing needs of their "clients". Once the needs have been addressed, students will then find a floor plan that meets those needs and create a presentation outlining how the floor plan fits the clients.

This is an outline of a sample notebook that can be used for Clothing 1. It helps the students master the skills before they sew on their projects. This is a lesson plan created by Diane Timothy to teach students how to create a collage of different shapes and colors for a second-grade elementary class. This is done digitally on the Pages app. on an iPad. This lesson allows students to learn the app as a class and then get into small groups and work and collaborate together. In this 20-minute face-to-face lesson, students will analyze a text about Yellowstone and summarize the information. They will engage in one-on-one and class discussions to demonstrate their mastery of these skills.

This lesson is for 6th grade Intro to FACS.  It is touches upon Strand 2 (Students will be introduced to the basic elements and principles of design in housing and interior design) Standard 4 (Explore the science of color and color combinations to form color schemes).  Students will get to utilize mobile technology to explore popular color combinations in the interior design world.  Students will use their mobile devices to learn how to edit photos and put them in a collage slide show!

In this lesson, students will first be introduced to adding two constant functions graphically to develop an understanding of how to add two functions together.  Next students will add a constant function to a linear function and discover how that translates the graph of the linear function.  Students will also begin building the connection between the graphical sums and algebraic sums.  Students will be exposed to adding two linear functions together graphically before function notation is introduced.  Students will also be exposed to adding a constant and exponential function together as exponential functions are a key function type in Secondary Math 1.   Lastly, students will be challenged with adding a linear function and quadratic function together.  Students will make the connection that adding a linear function and quadratic function together will result in a quadratic function.
