Students will research a local issue, and then write letters to two different audiences, asking readers to take a related action or adopt a specific position on the issue.

This short assessment is a great way to take stock of your communication style and its consequences. As written, this is appropriate for older youth or adults, including parents. However, the questions can easily be re-written to speak in the language of your group, whatever their age. Have individuals share in pairs or triads. Debrief by asking what new information or insight assessment offers.

Indigenous people have developed sophisticated methods to communicate. Given the number of nations and tribes with language differences and vast distances across the world, it's important for people to be able to understand each other. But how does that act of communication actually work?

In this lesson students will write a research report about communities and how they use their environment. In this lesson students will learn about the different locations within a community and the function the have within the community. They will gain an udnerstanding of the diffent funcitons of the locations. Through a walking tour of their community, students will be able to use and iPad to take photos of the different locations in the community and create a simple iMovie that puts there photos together and alows them to share what they know about the location and how it benefits their community. Photo Citation:- Busby, Rebecca. Students will pack their own "culture trunk" as they learn more about the cultural contributions found in their community.

In this activity students will collaborate as a team to build a virtual commnuity garden on Google Jamboard.  Individually students will need to demonstrate how area and perimeter are caculated after making a model of a garden plot using square units.  

Students will learn about different jobs and professions of people in the community.

This is a Preschool learning activity about Community Helpers. It is designed to be done at home, on Preschool off-days, with assistance from an adult. Students will be working through a Google Slide presentation with videos teaching about 5 different community helpers, and taking notes and adding pictures about the Community Helpers they learned about.
