Second-grade lesson on the types of habitats and needs of living things. Students will create a poster that shows what they learned about a specific habitat. Student goals/intended outcomes: Students will be able to identify the different habitats and at least 3 animals that live in each habitat. This lesson takes students through 3 iPad apps to explore and explain animal habitats. Students will conduct a research project on an animal of choice. Students will present the information they found in the storytelling format.

In this lesson, students will reflect briefly on different habitats and adaptations of animals that help them survive in those environments before diving into one specific example of animal adaptation -- the beaver. In this instructional video, the Hogle Zoo explains how to use the lesson plan "How to make an Exhibit."

By completing this activity, students will have a better understanding of what habitats are and what living things need to survive in their habitats. Students will create a model of an animal's habitat at a zoo. Each exhibit that the student's design will be uniquely suited to an individual species and its specific habitat needs. When all of the exhibits are combined to make a zoo, the lesson will also emphasize s the diversity of living things and underscore the everyday needs of living things as the exhibits will need to provide similar elements for the animal's survival.

This is a lesson plan about Grassland Animals. Students will become familiar with habitats and what types of animals can be found in grassland areas. They will create a slide show using Keynote and present it to their peers. They will use a graphic organizer to gather information for their slide shows. 

In this instructional video, the Hogle Zoo explains how to use the lesson plan "Habitat Design."

This is a lesson that involves students learning and knowing about the different habitats. Students will have a chance to share their knowledge by creating a video about their habitat using an iMovie as a means to demonstrate their knowledge. They are asked to pick one habitat, give facts and details to it, ,record their voices, and pick imaged that match it. Each video should be 1-3 minutes long. 

In this 4 week lesson students learn about different habitats and then use the pages app and keynote app to create a report and presentation on the habitat learned about.
