According to Paiute legend, the hawk and the coyote were not always animals as we see them now. Long ago, they were people, like you and me. The hawk was known as Kuhsawv, and the coyote was known as Soonungwuv. Coyote tales are part of the Paiute oral tradition used to teach proper behavio, natural phenomenon and values from an early age. These stories are only told during the winter time. The Coyote illustrates the mischievous nature in all of us. Students will listen to a Paiute tale and learn about folktales. They will also be introduced to the Paiute Indian Tribe of Utah, the location and how tribal members are working to preserve their language and culture. Students will also learn about how external structures and adaptations of animals help them to survive in their environment through a group activity.

It all starts when Ms. Frizzle's class is rehearsing Concerto for Invented Instrument. Carlos' invented instrument looks great, but sounds ploopy. Ms. Frizzle takes the kids to the Sound Museum - which is a spooky old house on a lonely hill, full of mysterious sounds. The children explore the Soundscape Room, hearing sounds from the jungle, mountains, the sea, and city environments. In another room, the kids feel vibrations when they play giant musical instruments. They put on special glasses and see sound waves in the Sound-O-Vision room. Can Carlos learn how to get the right sound from his musical instrument in time for the concert?

Climb aboard the Cyclops, a microscopic research vessel, and investigate an amazing hidden world on which all living things depend. The Cyclops houses a team of scientists known as the Micronauts and guides them through their discoveries of biological classification, diversity, and ecology. While navigating the dense aquatic weed forest of the pond, the Cyclops is pulled off course by a hydra. After escaping its tentacles, the crew begins to study how the hydra reproduces, captures its food, and digests its prey. One of the Micronauts takes a journey inside the hydra’s digestive system to get a first-hand account of the digestive process. Part 4 of the Microscopic Monsters Series.
