Designing Online Lessons
a design solution with cars and ramps (Going 3D with GRC)
In this video segment adapted from ZOOM, cast members make a bridge from a single piece of paper. Will it be strong enough to hold a hundred pennies?
Students will explore properties of sound and sound waves, experiment with building models of various musical instruments, then design and build a playable musical instrument of their choosing.
Students observe a chemical reaction with hydrogen peroxide and potatoes. The class identifies and then selects a variable that could be changed, are guided to write a valid investigation that tests that variable, and then performs the investigation and analyzes the data. Then, in pairs, students select a different chemical reaction, select a variable to test, write a valid experiment that tests that variable, analyze their data and share their claims and evidence

Two of the most important questions in designing, or redesigning, learning environments
are: How does learning happen? and How can we best create environments that support
learning? While empirical research has unearthed important insights and established agreedupon
models to help answer these questions, this research base is extensive, complex, and
often not honored by the design of traditional schools. To that end, our Designing for Learning
Primer aims to summarize the essence of what’s known about how learning happens in a way
that is digestible and actionable. Two of the most important questions in designing, or redesigning, learning environments

Please join the Community College Consortium for Open Educational Resources (CCCOER) for a free and open webinar on Designing for Open Pedagogy. Open Pedagogy was first introduced by Lumen Learning co-founder David Wiley, as a way to capture how the use of OER can change educational practices. He relates that using OER in the same way as traditional textbooks is like driving an airplane down the road – it is missing out on what open can provide for student and teacher collaboration, engagement, and learning.
This course covers the design, construction, and testing of field robotic systems, through team projects with each student responsible for a specific subsystem. Projects focus on electronics, instrumentation, and machine elements. Design for operation in uncertain conditions is a focus point, with ocean waves and marine structures as a central theme. Topics include basic statistics, linear systems, Fourier transforms, random processes, spectra, ethics in engineering practice, and extreme events with applications in design.
This video from Nature offers a description of desirable traits in beef and dairy cattle.
At Desmos, our mission is to help every student learn math and love learning math. With that in mind, we’ve assembled a collection of unique and engaging digital activities, which are free for you and your students. Access to most activities requires a free account.
Permitted use: a) as an end user, for your personal, non-commercial use or (b) as a teacher, for academic use by you and your students in individual classes
Graph functions, plot tables of data, evaluate equations, explore transformations, and more – for free!
This lesson plan requires students to create a resource using iMovie that can be used as notes, while also providing students and opertunitiy to collaborate and communicate to describe the six key features of a graph and table.

In this video from NOVA scienceNOW, learn how scientists detect potential signs of life on distant planets.
This short video and interactive assessment activity is designed to give fourth graders an overview of length (english units).
It's an issue that teachers, district leaders, policymakers, and curriculum writers seem to continue to struggle with when considering how best to teach ELLs within a CCSS-based framework.
