This is a photo scavenger hunt activity/lesson to review and assess knowledge of three-dimensional shapes. Students will demonstrate the ability to identify, analyze, compare and sort (spheres, cones, cylinders and cubes), by taking pictures of 3D objects found around the classroom and making a collage.  

Nigel Poor is a photographer who spends time documenting everyday existence, exploring the meaning of the traces of ourselves that we leave behind. She focuses on ordinary objects and materials, researching what makes an object “worthy of preservation,” in her words. This KQED Art School video was created in collaboration with SFMOMA, who commissioned art-making activity ideas from Nigel Poor for their Open Studio project.

A fun way for students to complete a visual book report using Adobe Express video maker. Not only is it more enjoyable than typing up pages of information, but the whole class can enjoy them as well. Students will create an Adope Spark Page with their own photos to describe what activities they like to do with their families.  Students will learn to take their own photos, edit them and then present.  The grammar writing focus will be to include the conjunction and when they write sentences about their pictures.  

This lesson will act as an assessment for writing and sharing an informed opinion. It also allows students time to create an infogrpahic on Adobe Express and take pictures to help make their proposed changes more evident. The image header was created using Canva AI. 

This lesson is designed for beginning writers to develop an understanding of opinion/persuasive writing. Students will examine a piece of work written by an author using opinion writing. Students will be guided through how to use a graphic organizer to help organize their writing and to assure all the proper elements have been included in their opinion writing. This lesson will help students to "identify the roles that people have in the school and explain the importance of each member" (2nd Grade Social Studies S2.O2a). After instruction on several different school workers, students will work in groups to take photos that respresent three of the roles of a chosen school worker.
