The Big6 is a six-stage model to help anyone solve problems or make decisions by using information. Students can use this model to guide them through the research process. This resource is a Big6 writing organizer for grades 3-6.

This resource gives a description of how Genius Hour could be implemented into the lower elementary grade K-2. It gives ISTE standards, mini-lesson for helping students choose a topic and complete their research. It has links for an exit ticket and rubric that can be used for lower elementary students. This unit walks students through the research process from pre-writing to publishing using cars as the topic, but it could be adapted for any basic research subject. With guidance and support students will explore using various research tools to help them access information about a specific topic. In this lesson we are learning about bears but you could choose another animal or topic as well.
