This lesson plan can be used to help students build the foundation for comparing and contrasting items which will lead to being able to sort key details in text. 

This lesson plan is to be used for a reading lesson.  The students will choose a fiction story and get it approved by the teacher.  Then they will take notes as they read to compare and contrast either characters, settings, or events in the story.  After finishing the book, the students will create a venn diagram in Pages on Ipad and submit that to the teacher.  The students needs to have three facts for each contrast and comparison.

The Compare & Contrast Map is an interactive graphic organizer that enables students to organize and outline their ideas for different kinds of comparison essays.

The purpose of this activity is two fold. The first is to show students that information can be found in both print and digital formats. The second is help the student in the Spanish class to understand another what another country is like.

Students will first compare themselves to each other. They will then read a story and compare and contrast the characters in the story. They will use their iPads to take and edit a photo. They will also edit a Pages template to add show they understand how to compare characters in a story and how those characters change throughout the story.

Students become familiar with the similarities and differences between electronic and printed text by comparing the textual aids included in a textbook with those of an educational website.

As native advertisements proliferate, students need to look beyond surface features like vivid graphics and learn to carefully evaluate sources of information. In this task, students are presented with two articles from the same online news outlet and asked which is a more reliable source. Students must identify who is behind the articles and consider potential conflicts of interest in order to successfully evaluate the articles.
