This is a lesson plan regarding middle school research. Students first complete their career research (different lesson plan). Next they complete this lesson which is completing a biography on an important person in their chosen career. Picture taken by Jann Leishman
The purpose of this activity is two fold. The first is to show students that information can be found in both print and digital formats. The second is help the student in the Spanish class to understand another what another country is like.
This resourch will help your students to practice use with Culture Grams in the Utah Online Library. This will help them build a foundation of what they need to have to use the resource effectively through completing a variety of tasks.
Students will compare two websites (one obviously more credible than the other) and evaluate them using the "CRAP checklist." They will look at factors like currency, reliability, accuracy, and purpose.
This lesson plan gives students a chance to learn about a country of their choice by accessing two databases to pull information from: Culturegrams and World Book Online. They are given a list of topics that need to be included in their project (which also serves as their assessment). They will be using Adobe Express to create a video highlighting their country, giving space for the topics they've researched. For cover image:Photo by Vlada Karpovich: https://www.pexels.com/photo/person-opening-a-map-on-the-floor-7368277/photo resource Lesson plan idea:https://www.uen.org/lessonplan/view/42845

It has some ideas of how to get started with your students, how to help students reflect on their project each day, ideas of final projects, a final project rubric to guide students in their presentation, and an idea of how to share and recognize the students' great work.
Students are to compare the rules of the game between what is online and in print. Students will use the World Book Encyclopedia in Utah's Online Library and the print materials that the library has on sports.
This resource will help your students to practice using the Utah's Online Library. This will help them to become familiar with features available to them, and practice reasearching.
