This lesson is the start of a unit on photojournalism and teaches the foundations of photojournalism and composition rules to Journalism students to enable them to create their own effective visuals to add visual elements and interest to Journalism articles.

The focus of this project will be a personal narrative of an event or situation that caused a major change in the students' lives for the better. Instead of a traditional written story, students are required to complete a digital story using school tools available to them through the school license or on their personal devices. The face-to-face lesson instruction will take 45 minutes. The remainder of the 90-minute block will be given to students to work on their projects. An additional class period should be added to finish, revise, edit, and share their projects within small groups. This plan is for high school grade levels.
This is Day Four of a Five Day unit teaching students strong research skills for a "white paper" style research paper (can be modified for any procon research assignment). For the purpose of this assignment, the white paper is an argumentative piece which introduces a problem and argues a solution to that problem.In this team taught lesson, students will learn how to incorporate sources in their paper. Focus will be on treating previous discussion of their topic as a "conversation" they are taking part in.
