This lesson takes students through 3 iPad apps to explore and explain animal habitats. Every Mac has built-in communication features that support learning. In this video, you’ll learn about helpful macOS features that support reading comprehension and writing composition. Using Safari Reader, students can improve reading skills by reducing visual clutter, and use Text to eseech for auditory reinforcement. In Pages, students can improve reading and writing skills with audio recordings to reflect on what they’ve learned, and use Dictation to focus on the writing process.

This lesson plan has been created to help students build their annotation skills, close reading skills, and ability to identify and analyze the central idea of a text.  This lesson plan also has been created to build digital annotation skills using the Pages application for iPad.  The overall outcome of this lesson plan is to show students the benefits of annotating a text using a digital tool and then taking the information from a text and applying it to create a Public Service Announcement that will bring awareness to a real-world issue or historical event that has had a large impact on our society.  

Students will practice their design and creativity skills with this project. They will need to make a promotion or advertisement for their favorite team or band/singer. They are in charge of creating a new poster using Pages or a 30-60 second promotional video using iMovie.The purpose of this assignment is to show that they know and understand design principles and can apply them to make an attractive and relevant promotion.
