This activity is designed to familiarize students with the cowboy culture of the Old West and its presence in our modern times.
Using a short story of your choice, students organize story events into proper sequence.
This lesson will help students identify personal behaviors that contribute to, or detract from a safe caring community.
Students will create an Adope Spark Page with their own photos to describe what activities they like to do with their families. Students will learn to take their own photos, edit them and then present. The grammar writing focus will be to include the conjunction and when they write sentences about their pictures.
Through watching several examples of commercials, campaign ads, TED talks, sports videos, instructional videos, and mini-documentaries, students will learn how to determine the audience, purpose, misconceptions, and level of influence various forms of media has.
This lesson plan is a culminating activity for a unit on Friendship and/or social skills.
Students will learn to recognize simple weather patterns.
Inquiry-based, hands-on lab to give students opportunity to compare what they think a serving size is to the recommended serving size.
Daily weather observations are recorded and then summarized at the end of the week in the form of a bar graph.
Enduring understanding: The physical geography of Utah influences where people live.Essential question:How do the physical features and landforms of Utah affect human settlement? This lesson will look at population concentrations in the State of Utah. Students will discuss the physical features that are part of various population centers and look for effects that those features may have on population.
Activities and a game help students compare rural, suburban, and urban communities.
Students will complete an art activity and a classroom graph that ties with the "Tacky the Penguin Series" by Helen Leste.
This "jigsaw" activity will give students the opportunity to work in groups to summarize a 1 to 2 page informational text. It "jigsaws" down to 1 class summary and can be done in 2 or 3 days. This plan was designed for a class of 22 students but can be easily modified by varying group size.
Students will define compound interest, distinguish it from simple interest, calculate compound interest using a compound interest rate calculator, and apply the concept to real-life scenarios.
Students will read and discuss the Uintah/Ouray Ute tale of "Why the Buzzard Is a Loner."
The idea is to give students a larger view of the importance of libraries as preservers of history and information. Also help them see the importance of being involved.
Lesson will cover first impressions we make to others about the clothing we wear. It will also cover the 5 reasons why we wear clothing: protection, adornment, identification, modesty, and status.
