Students play the stockmarketgame.org in teams. After learning the basics, students research different companies and each team spends $100k on stocks. 

This lesson provides students with an opportunity to create visual examples of each type of storage that should be found incorporated throughout the home.

In conjunction with a language arts teacher, whose students are writing short stories, the teacher librarian will review important story elements using picture books.

This set of lessons extends over a few days. Students read and annotate Ernie Pyle's "A Long Thin Line of Anguish." Students complete a SAYS/DOES graphic organizer, working on summarizing the text, noticing the choices the author makes about use of details, and describing the choices the author makes regarding the structure of the article.Students complete a SOAPStone handout, identifying subject, occasion, author, purpose, speaker and tone (SOAPStone is a pre-AP/AP strategy). Students develop claims about why Ernie Pyle makes the writing choices he makes. Students write an informal, free-response style assessment about the impact of Pyle's choices.

After completing a K-W-L-H Chart on electricity, students will discuss and illustrate the four ways lightening can move.

Students take notes which summarize each section of the text. Students write an objective summary of the text, identifying two claims and determining how those claims are developed in the text.

Students will perform Google Searches, trying to answer Trivial Pursuit Questions. They will perform timed searches before learning search skills, and compare their search time after learning search skills. The skills they learn are Boolean: AND, OR, NOT and Quotation Marks.

Students will learn about the Boston Tea Party, how taxes impact people's lives and where tax money goes.Enduring Understanding: Students will understand the roles of the events leading up to The Declaration of Independence by the United States.

Students will work together to prepare and perform a Readers Theatre using classic Dr. Seuss stories.

Students will use the knowledge they learned about 2d shapes to create a short video using iMovie. Students will be grouped together and will take photos of items in the classroom that resemble 2d shapes. Each video must have labels indicating how many sides their shapes have, name of the shape and how many verticies their shape has.

Students will recognize helpful people in their lives, learn to build relationships with them, and write thank you letters to them.

Students can more easily see the expansion of liquids than solids. This activity allows them to compare the expansion of three liquids in a demonstration activity.
