This week Dani and Jared welcome Valentina Arismendi Chirinos to UEN Homeroom. Valentina is a student at the University of North Carolina who recently presented at the Adobe Max conference on the topic of Digital Literacy. Our conversation focused on topics such as: how young people define digital literacy, the role that digital literacy plays in developing critical thinking skills and how Adobe digital tools help students explore digital literacy through creating online projects.

In this lesson upper elementary students will learn about website evaluation and ways to help identify credible information on the internet.  This lesson is to be taught in 3 or 4 thirty minute lessons

What makes a video story good isn’t just about the topic, it’s how you tell the story. In this lesson, you will focus on key elements that make for great nonfiction stories like news packages, video profiles, explainers, and short documentaries.

PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs, in partnership with the Poynter Institute's MediaWise, hosted “Face the Facts: Election 2020 Youth Town Hall.” The virtual event engaged students and first-time voters to be prepared and better informed ahead of the November elections.
