This is a second-grade student science experience tied to SEEd standard 2.2.2. In this experience students investigate how the structure of the body parts of fish help them to function and survive.
These experiences were designed to support students in engaging in science investigations with siblings and/or parents at home and then report back about what was discovered. They were created in a way that is easily adaptable for both online and printed formats. They are formatted to help students wonder about and investigate the science phenomena happening in the world around them. These experiences do not describe how students should write up and return work to their teacher. It is up to each teacher to adapt them to best meet student needs. When individualized by the teacher, a student could be asked to engage in one or more of these experiences a week and report back. This format aligns closely to the vision and expectation of the SEEd standards.

This is a writing unit on animal adaptations. Students will need to be expert researchers and will be able to dip their toes into the wonderful world of EBSCO! They will research the animal assigned to them using various graphic organizers and research questions to help guide their thinking. Once research is complete, they will fill out the OREO graphic organizer with an introduction, 3 facts with details, and a conclusion. Students will learn that animals have parts that are called features, and those features have functions that allow them to survive in their habitat. Students will conduct research on an animal of their choice and write an informative paragraph about that animals features.

This lesson plan is for 2nd grade science. Students take or use a photo of an animal and edit it using Adobe or a similar program to add labels of animal features. Students will conduct research about the animal and use notes to create the labels and present their photo to the class and explain the functions of the labeled features to the class.

This lesson plan is designed to help lower grade teachers teach their students to compare different types of animal habitats.  The activities in the lesson can be completed in 30-45 minutes in small groups as part of a whole group lesson in person or online.  The lesson plan is created by the author (Jalizabeth Hamberlin) using resources from Youtube, EBSCO, and National Geographic Kids.

This is a lesson plan to help teach students how to create a digital story using the ipad app "Story Creator" The students will watch some examples of differnt digital stories other students have created. Next, students will use previously learned information on animals and their habitats to fill out a storyboard that will help guide them to creating a digital story. Students will draw pictures and write text to accompany these pictures. The lesson will end with students presenting about their animal they chose and its habitat through means of a digital story. 

This is a lesson plan about Grassland Animals. Students will become familiar with habitats and what types of animals can be found in grassland areas. They will create a slide show using Keynote and present it to their peers. They will use a graphic organizer to gather information for their slide shows. 

This is a lesson plan created by Brooke Alderks Guymon.  Students will create a Keynote presentation of animal adaptations in different habitats.  They will create a Title slide, four slides with two facts and a picture on each one, and a reference slide.

This is a lesson that involves students learning and knowing about the different habitats. Students will have a chance to share their knowledge by creating a video about their habitat using an iMovie as a means to demonstrate their knowledge. They are asked to pick one habitat, give facts and details to it, ,record their voices, and pick imaged that match it. Each video should be 1-3 minutes long. 

What are habitats? Kids will learn about the different habitats around the world. Tundra, Grasslands, Forests, and Water habitats are explored.
