Students will conduct a research project on one of the habitats: savnnah, dessert, ocean or mountain. Students will present the information they found in a 3D diorama that will be presented in class and on display at the school library.

Students will invent a gadget using one or more simple machines. They will then write a detailed description of that gadget.

Students will use the iPad to create a public service announcement on the dangers of alcohol, drugs, and tobacco. They can use an app like iMovie to create the 30 second commercial.

Students participate in a Creative Problem Solving Activity to get from Utah to the Atlantic Ocean.

Students create their own parachutes to understand the concept of gravity and the effect it has on objects.

This lesson will help students understand the short and long term effects of using tobacco as well as why it is addictive.

Students will identify qualities within themselves that make them unique and special. Students will recognize self as different from others. Students will transfer acceptance of self to acceptance of others with differences.

Using the The Tortoise and the Hare fable students will learn basic map skills.

This lesson extends over several class periods. Students view a Prezi presentation on Toulmin's argument and complete an assignment based on the presentation. Students then write an argument essay about the power of prevailing passion over reason.

The student will be able to identify the subsistence practices of the Southern Paiutes and analyze the economic and social connections between the different bands of Southern Paiutes in Utah.
