    Overview

    Children will act out the story by copying the actions the little girl has done while wearing different shoes  to help demonstrate the beginning, middle, and end of the story. 

    Summary

    Children will act out the story by copying the actions the little girl has done while wearing different shoes  to help demonstrate the beginning, middle, and end of the story. 

    The story that has been recently read is Hello Toes, Hello Feet. Here is an outline of the following shoes and below is a list of actions the girl in the story did while wearing specific shoes:

    Red heels-clump down the stairs

    Green polka dotted shoes

    • Leap
    • Skip side to side
    • Point up high (mimic swinging)
    • Jump
    • Run
    • Stamp

    Red Cowboy boots

    • Quietly creep
    • Gallop like a horse
    • March
    • Shuffle

    Bare Feet

    • Spin
    • Stomp
    • Splash
    • Wiggle

    Materials

    • Story props for each activity
    • Materials to make props if needed.  This could include the following:
      • Popsicle sticks
      • Printouts of shoes
      • Crayons
    • Hello Toes, Hello Feet by Ann Whitford Paul

    Background for Teachers/Parents

    Read Hello Toes, Hello Feet by Ann Whitford Paul multiple times before completing this activity to help students familiarize themselves with the character and the story line. Your child(ren) may need support while performing some of the actions.  

    Intended Learning Outcomes

    • Each child will act out the known story to include main events from the beginning, middle, and end of the story. 
    • Children will take turns and engage in conversations with peers and adults.
