    Overview

    Children will be assigned a main character in a story they have recently read.  They will act out the story with a beginning, middle, and end. 

    Mel is learning to fly and perseveres until she is successful.

    Materials

    • Story props for each character
    • Materials to make props if needed.  This could include the following:
      • Popsicle sticks
      • Construction paper
      • Glue
      • Printouts of characters
      • Labels
    • Picture book Mel Fell by Corey R. Tabor

    Background for Teachers/Parents

    It is recommended you read Mel Fell by Corey R. Tabor with your child(ren) several times prior to completing this activity. 

    Intended Learning Outcomes

    • Each group will act out the known story to include main events from the beginning, middle, and end of the story. 
    • Children will take turns and engage in conversations with peers and adults.
