Repeated Reading According to research, it is recommended that preschool teachers prepare children for later reading instruction. They can do so by introducing the five critical building blocks for literacy including phonological awareness, letter identification, vocabulary knowledge, print concepts, and a positive attitude toward reading (Henry, 2019). (Early Learning Standards, ELA Introduction)

Create a play activity outside for your child(ren) with a variety of options.  Gather the materials such as bubbles, kites, chalk, jump ropes, hula hoops, a ball to kick or bounce, etc.  Ask them to plan where they would like to play.  Talk about the amount of space they may need to play safely without interrupting others.

After hearing a familiar story, Child(ren) will create something new to change the plot.  For example, what would happen if it were Goldilocks and the Three Cats?  DIscuss how that would change the events in the story?  Child(ren) could change the characters in a story, the setting of the story, the beginning, middle, or end of a story, the sequence of events in the story, etc.
