Students will understand and identify personal values and how values impact interpersonal relationships and financial decisions.

The students will make an iMovie or Educreations on developing and maintaining healthy relationships.

In small groups, students will define violence and discuss different examples of violence in the media. Each group will then share its definition and examples with the class, the teacher will then conduct the activity: "Taking a Stand on Media Violence". After the activity, the small groups will then discuss different ways of dealing with violence in the media and share ideas with the class.

Students will learn basic vocabulary related to viruses and participate in an activity to see how viruses spread

Students will learn new words through listening, reading and discussion. This is an introductory vocabulary lesson for fifth grade Science standard II (Students will understand that volcanoes, earthquakes, uplift, weathering, and erosion reshape Earth's surface.)

Students will understand the rights and responsibilities of voting in local, state, and national elections.Essential questions:What are the roles of elected officials in our state government?Why is it important for citizens to vote?Enduring understanding:Students will be able to identify the roles of elected officials in Utah and explain the importance of voting as a citizen of our state.

This lesson is an interactive way for students to realize the impact WWI had upon soldiers, families, and land in Europe.

Students will pick a famous person from a revolution and research about that person from several different sources. The student will then need to complete a worksheet that examines the essential questions for this standard. The student will then create a 2 to 3 minute script about the history of this person. The student will then create a background, dress up in time period clothing and present the information to the class.

Students learn about multicultural holidays celebrated in winter: Hanukkah, St. Lucia Day, Las Posadas, Kwanzaa, and Chinese New Year.

Students will create a paper face and a paper face book to recognize similarities and differences.

This activity focuses on being an individual and reminds students that it is okay to be different.

The student will be able to create a visual representation of the knowledge gained studying the American Indians of Utah.

The student will be able to write an essay using knowledge gained by studying the American Indians of Utah.

The student will be able to discern the correct answers to multiple choice questions based on comprehension of the materials presented on the American Indians of Utah.

Students will learn about weather by taking walks in various types conditions: sunny, rainy, windy and snowy.

This lesson will help students understand how woven fabrics are created and the differences between the plain weave, the twill weave, and the satin weave.

This activity allows students to hear their peer's initiating positive self-talk. It allows them to connect to their peers both through their shared characteristics and also through the yarn web they weave. This is a great large group activity that encourages participation from everyone in the group. 

This activity will incrase students' knowledge of using maps and how it is important in their lives.
