Interpersonal and Small Group Communication is adapted from chapters of two open-access books: Communication in the Real World and Small Group Communication. Communication in the Real World: An Introduction to Communication Studies overviews the time-tested conceptual foundations of the field, while incorporating the latest research and cutting-edge applications of these basics. Each chapter will include timely, concrete, and real-life examples of communication concepts in action. This book was originally created by faculty at the University of Minnesota. Small Group Communication: Forming and Sustaining Teams, by Jasmine Linabary, is an interdisciplinary textbook focused on communication in groups and teams. This textbook aims to provide students with theories, concepts, and skills they can put into practice to form and sustain successful groups across a variety of contexts.

This book presents a collection of dialogues in Spanish and English, specifically designed to help aspiring medical interpreters sharpen their language proficiency and professional expertise.

Medical Terminology is a language class. The language we are learning is Medical English, a form of English used by medical professionals worldwide to communicate with one another. When medical professionals communicate with patients, a translator is sometimes required because not all people speak Medical English.

By the time you finish this course, you will be fluent in Medical English.

Like all language courses, the best way to learn is by immersion. In Unit 1, to teach you word building, we will flood your brain with Medical English words. In Units 2 and 3, we will cover some of the details of Medical English common to all organ systems. In Units 4 through 12, we will devote a Unit to each of the body’s organ system and introduce Medical English words that are specific to that organ system.

In each Unit, you will be given a table of root words, a table of prefixes, and a table of suffixes. Then you will be given a word list that combines those root words, prefixes, and suffixes into new Medical English words.

This book is written for students in a doctorate of nursing practice (DNP) specializing in leadership. In this course, learners will examine what it means to be a nursing professional. They will then incorporate principles of professionalism, including communication and advocacy, to influence the development of well-designed healthcare policies. Finally, students will use their knowledge to analyze healthcare policies and identify strategies that could be used to advocate for individuals and the profession of nursing to ensure healthcare systems that are safe, equitable, and ethical.

Designed for students with proficiency of at least advanced low in Spanish and English; does not assume prior translation experience. Provides a basic introduction to selected techniques for translating written narratives, subtitling videos, and localizing videogames. Through these activities, students develop their bilingual communication skills as well as creative problem solving and critical thinking. Activities build in complexity.
