This is a lesson plan that will help educators teach Kindergarten students about 2D and 3D shapes, how to identify, sort them and design their own using marshmallows and toothpicks. In this lesson students will be learning about 3-D shapes. They watch a video about 3-D shape and how to describe those shapes by identifying the number of faces those shapes have. In this lesson plan students will discover 2D and 3D shapes in their environment. The will gain an understanding of the difference between a 2D shape (flat) and 3D shape (solid) and what that looks like in the world around them. Students will go on a walking scavenger hunt to find both 2D and 3D shapes around their school.
