Students will observe as the teacher performs a variety of chemical and/or physical reactions. The teacher will guide a discussion that reinforces the concepts that atoms and molecules are too small to see but that we know about them through their behavior.

After analyzing the Mayflower Compact students will use a Venn Diagram to compare and contrast Colony Constitutions.Enduring Understanding: Students will analyze and compare how the exploration and colonization of North America transformed human history.

Students will be introduced to the various elements needed when planning a suitable meal for their family.

The students will learn and observe by preparing a recipe using inaccurate and misunderstood measurements for measuring ingredients for a recipe how confused one can be in preparing a recipe and in the overall evaluation of the finished product. By knowing and understanding the importance of using standardized measuring cups and spoons in measuring ingredients correctly and accurately in a recipe will result in a product turning out correctly and consistently every time it is prepared.

An introduction to meat cookery identifying the basics of cooking with meat, selection, care and storage of meats, identifying the dry heat and moist heat methods of cooking, and preparing meats using different methods.

This lesson is focused on media violence, especially comparing consequences of actions in real life vs. those portrayed in media (i.e., movies, tv, video games, etc.).

This lesson will help students understand the role of advertising, specifically the role it plays in alcohol, tobacco and medicinal drug advertisements.

Introduce middle school students to reading through the use of graphic novels. Students will follow different themes in the novel citing quotes to support the different themes in the book.

At the conclusion of this lesson, students will understand the continuum of mental health and recognize the warning signs of mental health problems.

In this lesson students will be creating a blog of meals that they have prepared and cooked at home. This will be done after the student have learned about the basic nutrients and how much they need in a day. This will be a month long project in which the students choose one meal a week to post about.All meals will need to be under a certain amount of calories and with the proper proportions of fat, protein and carbohydrates.This will create better retention of what we have learned in class because they will have created something from scratch and post about it in a fun and creative way. It will also give me an easy way to grade what hey have done at home as they will be submitting the link to me for grading.

Students construct a model of the water cycle in action using two-liter pop bottles to build a terrarium.

Students will learn how modern day immigrants may be pilgrims in their own respect. They will learn what immigrants and pilgrims are, and be assigned to demonstrate learning about an immigrant in their ancestry.

Students will explore MyPlate. There is a PowerPoint and a note guide to accompany this lesson. There is an application activity, (with an interactive whiteboard option). A couple of mini-lab recipes, (a lab that will only take half a class period), will be provided to help teach the concepts of the lesson.

Students will list three or more types of evidence of prehistoric cultures that encouraged archaeologists to investigate the marshes around the Great Salt Lake. Students will also explain why it is important not to disturb archaeological remains.
