From the feedback I have updated this resource. An example has been added in goals and outcomes. Remember the lesson does not get to the formula, so labels are great. I added citation to the overview, and hyperlinks in the instructions. I also added some area problems and a graph page pdf. Finally, I added an optional summative assessment that should allow most of the students to be successfu.

I really love this resource. I like that it's interactive, uses manipulatives, and has opportunities for formative assessments. It is very well thought out, and would be a great asset in any classroom for teaching area. You could spread this lesson plan out over a few days. One thing I wondered is if you would also give a more summative assessment at the end of the lesson, or if you would just be using the formative assessments already mentioned. You could expand on the exit ticket idea of why they feel this is the best way to contain the animals, and turn it more into a writing project if you wanted by also asking what kind of animals they would keep in there, what they would need to feed them and take care of them, etc.. Again, great resource!
