Getting to Know You
This is a fun lesson to help students navigate through iMovie while forming a video presentation to introduce themselves to their classmates.

This lesson is a getting to know you video presentation. Students will make a short video about themselves to introduce themselves to their classmates.
- 2-3 30-45 minutes sessions to prep
- 3-4 days of multiple presentations
Background for Teachers
- To teach this lesson, you will need an understanding of iMovie.
- You will need an example made of yourself to introduce to your students.
Step 1 - Goals and Outcomes
- Students will be able to make a movie in iMovie.
- Students will understand the basics of the program, iMovie as they explore the program.
- Students will introduce themselves to the class through this program.
Step 2 - Planning Instruction
Student Background Knowledge
Prior to this lesson, students will need to have an understanding of mac or ipad use. They will be learning the basics of the iMovie program, therefore, being able to use the device itself will be helpful.
Strategies for Diverse Learners
Peer tutoring will be helpful to those who need extra explanation. Extra time to work on project whether at home or in class will be given to those who have accomodations.
Step 3 - Instruction
Students will be introduced to their teacher through the iMovie the teacher has put together about self. (teacher example is all clipart for purposes of posting online, however, real photos of family etc would make it more personal.) After presenting the movie the teacher will show some step by step instructions to get started. The Beginners Guide to iMovie is a great video that is a step by step guide to help. The video can be played all at once, or stopped periodically. If stopped periodically, teacher can have students do that portion of their project and then move onto to next steps. Students can do project with clipart and titles/audio or bring in a few pictures from home and use personal photos as well as clipart. Adding audio of students sharing about themselves as the movie plays would be a fun extra added to it.
Students will spend a couple days working on and putting their video together.
Step 4 - Assessments
Students will be assessed through observation, questioning, and presentation of their movie.
