    Blending Learning Lesson Plan

    Blending Learning Lesson Plan

    Overview

This blended learning lesson plan is a hyperdoc that students can work through individually to learn what a prefix is, practice identifying prefixess in words, understand the meaning and how it changes the word to mean something new. Students will work through this hyperdoc with required assignments/ tasks, these include instruction through videos and practice. The rest of the hyperdoc students can pick and choose what they want to do with a required limit of acitivites. They will be assessed throughout the hyperdoc to check their understanding and at the end they will complete a worksheet based on their level of understanding to turn in for the teacher to have as evidence of their understanding.

Step 1 - Goals and Outcomes

    Step 1 Goals and Outcomes

    Learning Intentions:

    • Students will be able to understand what a prefix is, how to identify a prefix in a word, and determine the meaning of the prefix.

    Success Criteria:

    • Students will identify prefixes, create prefixes, and state the words meaning.

    Step 2 - Planning Instruction

    Step 2 Planning Instruction

Prior to this lesson, students will need to have an understanding of syllables, the meanings of simple words, what a root/ base word is, how to create a sentence, simple technology skills (navigating through websites, tabs, etc), and how to determine the meaning of words based on their background knowledge.

For diverse learners accommodations and scaffolding can be put in place. For students who struggle in reading or students who do not speak/ read english, they will recieve support from a teacher or in partners. As well as the required sections of this hyperdoc can be changed based on students ability.

    Step 3 - Instruction

    Step 3 Instruction

Students will work individually through the hyperdoc to receive the instruction on prefixes, they will watch a Youtube video, complete a seesaw activity, and practice with an interactive powerpoint. Those are the required sections. The rest of the hyperdoc is for students to explore based on their interests. In the other sections there are more videos, a word sort, another seesaw activiy where they identify the prefixes, there are 3 types of worksheets based on how they're feeling about prefixess, some games (from blooket, a matching game, a quiz show game, and a maze), and lastly there is a word search option for them. Students will work on this hyperdoc for a day's instruction time (ex. 45 minutes) or until completion based on teacher's preference. During this time the teacher can provide support to students who need scaffolding or assistance.

    Step 4 - Assessments

    Step 4 Assessments

Student's learning will be assessed during the hyperdoc and then at the end through a worksheet. During their learning it will be assesed through the seesaw activity at the top of the hyperdoc. By the end of the hyperdoc, students will complete a worksheet. This will demonstrate their level of understanding of prefixes.
