    AUTOBIOGRAPHY Adobe Express

    Overview

    This is a lesson is meant to guide educators through the autobiogrpahy Adobe Express project. 
    Students will create an autobiography video of their life. They will document their life with picutres and present using Adobe Express video. 

    Summary

    In this lesson students will be create an Adobe Spark video about themselves and their familes. Students will use photography learned in class to document their lives.

    Step 1 - Goals and Outcomes

     

    Students will be able to write and present their autobiography using Adobe Express. They will keep a photo journal of their lives and of their familes and will use these to add to their essay. 

    Writing Standard 2

    Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly.

    Reading: Literature Standard 7
    Analyze how visual and multimedia elements contribute to the meaning, tone, or beauty of a text 

     

    Success Criteria:

    • Students will create an Adobe Express video to document their lives in order to educate and inform their peers of who they are, what they have accomplished and their goals. 

     

    Step 2 - Planning Instruction

    Students will be doing a 4-6 day project on their autobiogrpahy report. 

    Day 1: Students will be writing an outline on a line piece of paper of events/important parts that have happened in their life. 

    Day 2: Students will be using their outline to write 1-3 sentence speech that they will be using in their video. (Add another day if students need more time)

    Day 3: Students will plan pictures that will go with their life events. (photo Journal)

    Day 4: Students will add pictures and audio to adobe Express  (Add another day if students need more time)

     

    Step 3 - Instruction

     

    Students will be doing a 5 day project on their autobiogrpahy report. 

    Day 1: Students will be writing an outline on a line piece of paper of events/important parts that have happened in their life. 

    * Teacher should explain to students that they are going to be making an adobe Express video using pictures, music, and writing of their life.

    * Teacher will explain that they they should have 3-5 events for each section of their life (Past, Present, Future) 

    * Teacher will explain that an outline is just a brief description of something that they want to write about. Explain that they are not writing out their entire memory but just a few words that will remind them what they want to talk about when they do their assignment. 

    * Techer will provide a check list outline of things they could include
                    Early Childhood: Family Members, Family Memory/vacations, 
                   Current Life: Interesting facts, Schools life, successes, hobbies
                   Goals for future: Career, Family, Recreational aspirations

    Accomodation: Outline can be provided for students who need a graphic organizer. (As graphic organizers vary depending on the students needs, this is not provided. 

     

    Day 2: Students will be using their outline to write 1-3 sentence speech that they will be using in their video. 

    * Teacher will explain that in adobe express that they will be able to talk over pictures. They will be able to show a picture and explain what the picture is representing. 

    * Students will be asked to write 1-3 sentences to explain a part of their life for each item in their outline. 

    * Teacher will give an example of a life event. 
    "Teachers Name was born on Nov 1, 1965 at 4:36am in Salt Lake City Utah" 

    * Teacher will explain that they should have 15 different events with 1-3 sentences each. (This may take 2 days depending on studetns writing abilities and age.)

     

    Day 3: Students will plan pictures that will go with their life events. (photo Journal)

    * Teacher will explain to students that their video will need pictures to go with their life events. These pictures can be found online if they dont' have a picture that matches their description. 

    * Teacher will show students how to fold a copy paper into 8 sections. Students will number front and back to 16. 

    * Teacher will explain that the first even is birth so the picture that matches the event might be a picture of them as a newborn. 

    * Teacher will show example of his/her self as a baby. She will explain that the picture will go along with the sentence that was created the day before "Teachers Name was born on Nov 1, 1965 at 4:36am in Salt Lake City Utah" 

    *Students will fill in their copy organizer with photo ideas. 

    (Homework: Students will take pictures, bring photos, or find pictures for their project and bring to class. Photos must be scanned in to their email or students canvas folder.)

    Accomodation: Teacher can scan in photos if students do not have access to a scanner. 

    Day 4: Students will add pictures and audio to adobe Express

    * Teacher show students how to upload and add pictures from their email to adobe express

    * Teacher show students how to record and add audio to adobe express

    * Teacher show students how to add background music to adobe express

    * Teacher show students publish video and share

    * Students will have 2 days to compelte this last task. 

     

    Step 4 - Assessments

    Students will present their autobiography to the class
