    Playing with Shadows

    Playing with Shadows

    Overview

Child(ren) wil explore how sunlight can cast shadows on a sunny day.

Child(ren) will trace shadows on the sidewalk to color.  This can be an outline of their own body(s), or they can trace the outline of a preferred toy, etc.

    Summary

Explore how sunlight can cast shadows on a sunny day.  If available, have children stand under an awning or tree on a sunny day and ask if they can see their shadows.  If not, ask them if a shadow is present and if so, what they believe could be casting that shadow.

Ask someone to trace shadows on the sidewalk for children to color.  This can be an outline of their own bodys, they can trace the outline of a preferred toy, etc.
