Building Friendships

Overview

Children will practice friendship skills as they join activities or invite others to join them in their play.

Summary

Choose an activity to help build relationships and make friends based on your child(ren) and their needs.  Think about how they can use friendship skills with peers as they develop play skills.  Encourage them to join in activities or invite others to join them in their play.

Background for Teachers/Parents

Make sure to look at the play skills included above.  Recognize the type of play your child is currently independently engaged in.  Allow children to play within their levels while modeling how to develop play at the level slightly above their current independent play level.
