    Overview

This resource is a Social Studies student activity that utilizes Utah's Online Library resources - specifically, EBSCO databases (History Reference Center) to help students learn about World Religions.

    About Utah’s Online Library

Utah's Online Library provides Utah educators and students free access to high-quality reference collections such as EBSCO, Gale Reference Collection, World Book, eMedia, and LearningExpress Library.

This activity was designed to help educators utilize this amazing resource in their classrooms.

Note: Utah educators and students visiting Utah's Online Library from a school computer should be automatically authenticated. When at home, students must use the home access login that their teacher or school media specialist can provide. Utah educators can use either their my.uen login or the home access login.

    Activity

Essential Question: How is religion reflected in the daily lives of people?

Have students choose a major world religion and create a presentation about its major tenets. Is there an area of the world where this religion is predominant?  What are its origins? Who are the major deities? How are the tenets of the religion reflected in the everyday lives of the individuals who follow its beliefs?

Direct students to the reliable resources in Utah's Online Library for their study of world religions. The EBSCO databases and specifically the History Reference Center have many articles from hundreds of worldwide periodicals and newspapers as well as encyclopedic information.
