Step 2 Planning Instruction

Student Background Knowledge

Prior to this lesson, students will need to have an understanding of how to use iMovie or adobe spark. Students should have expereince storyboarding and creating short films.

Strategies for Diverse Learners

Teachers should show short student made videos, provide additional time for diverse learners. Pair students together when working if support is needed. Accept work created in any language. Provide translated directions as needed.

Step 3 - Instruction

Step 3 Instruction

Teachers should show students a few student examples from Spy Hops Youtube Channel. Explain what a movie short is and get students excited about making their own videos. (Link bleow)

Have a discussion about all students indivuduality. What makes you an individual. Have students make a word cloud about their elbow partner about everything that they feel makes them stand out and be their own self.

Instruct students to look at the word cloud that was generated. What is the one topic or theme they created that makes you the most proud? Use that topic to create a short 2 minute video. See teacher example about becoming a parent.

Step 4 - Assessments

Step 4 Assessments

Once students are done creating their videos. They will share with the class. Each student will be responsible for submitting a written response identifying 2 things they loved about the moive and one thing that would help it stand out.
