    iMovie Poem

    iMovie Poem


    In this lessons students will review what limericks are, write there own Limericks, and then use iMovie to turn there limerick into a short movie


    In this lesson students will use iMove and their own Limerick peoms they have writen to make a movie. 

    • Time frame: This lesson can be done over the course of two to three weeks.
    • Format: face-to-face
    • Applications required: Students will need access to iMovie


    Background for Teachers

    To teach this lesson you will need a background knowlege of Limericks and a iMovie. Attached is an article explaining limericks. You can also search "Limericks," in EBSCO for more articles and examples of limericks. You will also need a basic Knowledge of iMovie. I've included an example iMovie to give you an idea of what students could create.

    Step 1 - Goals and Outcomes


    Learning Intentions:

    • Students will reiview what a limericks is and write their own.

    Success Criteria:

    • Working in groups students will be able to write limerick and then use technology (iMovie) to turn thier peom into a movie.


    Step 2 - Planning Instruction


    Student Background Knowledge

    • Prior to this lesson, students will need to have an understanding of Limericks. Attached are a few articles from Gale that can be used to refresh students memories on Limericks.

    Strategies for Diverse Learners

    Allow students to work in groups on this project.

    Step 3 - Instruction

    Week 1:

    At the beginning of the week show attached youtube video and review what a limerick is. Read some of the Limericks poems attached. Then provide students with time this week to breain storm and write a  Limericks on their own or in small groups.

    Week 2: 

    This week give students time to take the poems they have written and use iMovie to turn their poems into movies. At the end of the week let students present their movies in class.



    Step 4 - Assessments

    I have attached a  peotry rubic. Students will present their movies to the class. After presenting students will be asked to write a one paragraph selft-reflection on their experience making their poem into a movie.
