In this lesson students will practice assertive communication, problem solving, and conflict management skills.
In this lesson students will learn to distinguish between goals and dreams and identify the benefits of having dreams, setting goals, and working toward them. They will learn how to use guidelines for making dreams come true and for planning how to reach a specific goal.
Children will be able to identify healthy foods and non-healthy foods. They will be able to have fun while learning and being active. The children will also be able to use there own language to teach their fellow classmates new words for the pictures.
Through story and media activities, students will learn about the concept of "Bucket filling" and submit a sample via Opinion ways they plan to use bucket filling. The purpose of the lesson is to teach awareness of how you treat others can have an effect on your own happiness and how your interactions can have an effect on yourself, others and the community.
As teens develop relationships, it is pertinent that they grow an understanding of healthy and unhealthy relationships. This lesson focuses on the basics of relationships and dating violence.
Objective 1. Foods that comprise a healthy diet. Physical activity to maintain optimal body weight.
Students will be researching and exploring 6 systems of the human body: the muscular system, the skeletal system, the nervous system, the respiratory system, the circulatory system, and the digestive system. Students will be divided into 6 groups, where they will research a assigned body system. From there, each group creates a mini-lesson using the app, Explain Everything, to teach their assigned system, create a life-size diagram of their system, and create jeopardy questions for a class game.
Fifth grade students will be taught and demonstrate knowledge of various types of cyberbullying. Students will demonstrate knowledge of ways to appropriate deal with cyberbullying.
Students will be able to define inherited and acquired and know if their body shape is acquired or inherited. The students will also learn factors that influence their body shape.
Students will copy and demonstrate 3styles of responding to a question, the five Refusal Skills, and 5 reasons to use them.
In this lesson students will recognize the difference between reasonable and unreasonable risk, plan to avoid risk, and identify factors that influence decision making.
Students will research dietary guidelines, influence of the media and healthy/junk foods.
Students will identify the benefits of relaxation and recognize ways to relax the body and mind in this lesson.
As a group, students will choose one of six things that factor into a healthy lifestyle and create a slide show for the class.
Students will learn the major muscles of the body through song.

In this lesson students will be creating a blog of meals that they have prepared and cooked at home. This will be done after the student have learned about the basic nutrients and how much they need in a day. This will be a month long project in which the students choose one meal a week to post about.All meals will need to be under a certain amount of calories and with the proper proportions of fat, protein and carbohydrates.This will create better retention of what we have learned in class because they will have created something from scratch and post about it in a fun and creative way. It will also give me an easy way to grade what hey have done at home as they will be submitting the link to me for grading.
Students will learn to identify "natural high" activities and their benefits as healthy alternatives to substance use.
The activities in this lesson will help students understand why tobacco is addictive and how and why people quit using tobacco.
Students will be assessed on their understanding of how to read and understand nutrient information on food labels. 25 different food labels will be placed around the room. Students will work individually to answer the questions on their bingo cards by using the food labels. For example one question on the bingo card might say which food has the most saturated fat or grams of sugar?
