It's normal to feel anxious when your parent is deployed. but there are ways to deal with these feelings. Try finding a fun activity, or when you start feeling Stressed, acknowledge your concerns and replace them with something more positive like imagining your parent returning home safe and sound.
There can be a change for everyone when a parent returns from deployment. But despite the stress, it's important that Dylan keeps talking with his parents — and that he's honest with them, particularly about what he's feeling.
Having a parent leave for deployment can be a major event, and it can make for a lot of changes. Although he may not realize it, Sam has many options for support while his dad is away. It's important to reach out for help when you need it.

Think about how you feEl when you see someone struggling. It feels good to be able to help a friend, and it's OK (and the right thing to do) to lean on others when you're down.
Not Everything Stays the Same" - "You may always hear that when your parent comes home everything will change. Your family life may have gone topsy turvy. This family was able to find some ways that the family stayed the same."
"Communication is the Key" - "You may have experienced or are going to experience a second deployment of your parent. This family had a really hard time when their dad came home from a 13 month deployment. They figured out as a family that they didn't communicate enough during the deployment. They put their heads together and decided to create a monthly family newsletter and it really worked."
