This short text is designed more for self-study or review than for classroom use; full solutions are given for nearly all the end-of-chapter problems. For a more traditional text designed for classroom use, see Fundamentals of Calculus (http://www.lightandmatter.com/fund/). The focus is mainly on integration and differentiation of functions of a single variable, although iterated integrals are discussed. Infinitesimals are used when appropriate, and are treated more rigorously than in old books like Thompson's Calculus Made Easy, but in less detail than in Keisler's Elementary Calculus: An Approach Using Infinitesimals. Numerical examples are given using the open-source computer algebra system Yacas, and Yacas is also used sometimes to cut down on the drudgery of symbolic techniques such as partial fractions. Proofs are given for all important results, but are often relegated to the back of the book, and the emphasis is on teaching the techniques of calculus rather than on abstract results.

From the MAA review of this book: "The discussions and explanations are succinct and to the point, in a way that pleases mathematicians who don't like calculus books to go on and on."There are eleven chapters beginning with analytic geometry and ending with sequences and series. The book covers the standard material in a one variable calculus course for science and engineering. The size of the book is such that an instructor does not have to skip sections in order to fit the material into the typical course schedule. There are sufficiently many exercises at the end of each sections, but not as many as the much bigger commercial texts. Some students and instructors may want to use something like a Schaum's outline for additional problems.

Published by OpenStax College, Collaborative Statistics was written by Barbara Illowsky and Susan Dean, faculty members at De Anza College in Cupertino, California. The textbook was developed over several years and has been used in regular and honors-level classroom settings and in distance learning classes. This textbook is intended for introductory statistics courses being taken by students at two and fouryear colleges who are majoring in fields other than math or engineering. Intermediate algebra is the only prerequisite. The book focuses on applications of statistical knowledge rather than the theory behind it.

Elementary Differential Equations with Boundary Value Problems is written for students in …

Elementary Differential Equations with Boundary Value Problems is written for students in science, engineering, and mathematics who have completed calculus through partial differentiation. If your syllabus includes Chapter 10 (Linear Systems of Differential Equations), your students should have some preparation in linear algebra. In writing this book I have been guided by the these principles: An elementary text should be written so the student can read it with comprehension without too much pain. I have tried to put myself in the students place, and have chosen to err on the side of too much detail rather than not enough. An elementary text cant be better than its exercises. This text includes 2041 numbered exercises, many with several parts. They range in difficulty from routine to very challenging. An elementary text should be written in an informal but mathematically accurate way, illustrated by appropriate graphics. I have tried to formulate mathematical concepts succinctly in language that students can understand. I have minimized the number of explicitly stated theorems and defonitions, preferring to deal with concepts in a more conversational way, copiously illustrated by 299 completely worked out examples. Where appropriate, concepts and results are depicted in 188 figures

This is an editable Nearpod that can be given as student paced or live participation. If it is the first time students are interacting with the math concepts, it is suggested to do it in live participation. The lesson contains multiple strategies for finding determining the concepts: There are videos, word problems, draw-it, quizzes, and a Time to Climb for students to get multiple opportunities to interact with the concepts.

This book is meant to be a textbook for a standard one-semester introductory statistics course for general education students.Over time the core content of this course has developed into a well-defined body of material that is substantial for a one-semester course. The authors believe that the students in this course are best served by a focus on the core material and not by an exposure to a plethora of peripheral topics. Therefore in writing this book we have sought to present material that comprises fully a central body of knowledge that is defined according to convention, realistic expectation with respect to course duration and students maturity level, and our professional judgment and experience.

Precalculus (was College Algebra) is an introductory text. The material is presented at a level intended to prepare students for Calculus while also giving them relevant mathematical skills that can be used in other classes. The authors describe their approach as "Functions First," believing introducing functions first will help students understand new concepts more completely. Each section includes homework exercises, and the answers to most computational questions are included in the text (discussion questions are open-ended). Graphing calculators are used sparingly and only as a tool to enhance the Mathematics, not to replace it. Note: this book was updated on the BC Open textbook Project site on February, 17, 2015 to include the version of the textbook with chapters on Trigonometry.
