    Overview

    Children will listen to music and stop their bodies from moving when the music pauses.  This allows students to explore movement through dance and also helps build self-control as they start and stop activities.

    Children will listen to music and stop their bodies from moving when the music pauses.  This allows students to explore movement through dance and also helps build self-control as they start and stop activities.  

    Materials

    • Music
    • Speakers (computer, phone, CD player, etc.)

    You may also want to consider adding card to represent how they child should pose once the music stops. You could consider different yoga poses, different animal cards, etc. 

    Background for Teachers/Parents

    This practice helps students to learn to regulate control over their own movements in space.  It also helps them learn to start and stop behaviors. 

    Intended Learning Outcomes

    Children will stop moving when the music stops and move once the music starts.
