Watch the video (linked in materials section) and ask your child(ren) to hold up a card to show how they are feeling when they hear a specific piece of music.

You can extend this activity by allowing your child(ren) to play a musical instrument such as a drum, piano, or xylophone to demonstrate different emotions through music. You can also play different pieces of music and ask students to draw a picture about how it makes them feel.  

Background for Teachers/Parents

Being able to recognize emotions may be difficult for some children. 

Intended Learning Outcomes

Children will hold up the correct emotion card while listening to the music presented in the video.
