    Overview

    Students will analyze the Preamble of the Constitution.

    Summary

    Students will analyze and become familiar with the preamble of the Constitution and know what the job the Constitution is suppose to perform.

    2. Preamble on a slide
    3. Computer
    4. Internet (for showing emedia clip)
    5. Preamble song (10:20-14:00)

    Student Prior Knowledge

    Students need to know how to read and analyze complex documents.  Students need to understand the story leading to why the Founding Fathers wrote the Constitution.

    Objectives/Learning Intentions

    Standard 3 Objective 1b. 

    Analyze goals outlined in the Preamble.

     

    Students will be able to analyze the and explain the goals of the Constitution using the Preamble.

    Instructional Procedures

    1. Give context/story of the situation leading to the Constitution
    2. Explain what Preamble means and what it is
    3. Play preamble song
    4. Have students read preable and mark the promises of the constituion
    5. Have discussion about what each part of preamble means
    6. Do exit ticket
