    Teachers will need to know what main idea and details of informational text are and how they identify them in a text.

    Identify the main topic and retell key details of a text.

    Lesson Example 

     

     

    Step 1 - Goals and Outcomes

    Learning Intentions:

    • Students will be able to identify the main idea and and retell key details of the text.

    Success Criteria:

    • Students will use a sentence stem to write about a key detail they learned from an informational text.

     

    Step 2 - Planning Instruction

     

    Prior to this lesson, students will need to have an understanding of what an informational text is.

     

    Step 3 - Instruction

    Main Idea Lesson Presentation - Students will go through the presentation and then read an informational text of their choosing and use the lesson's sentence stem to write a detail of what their informational text was about
