## Step 1 - Goals and Outcomes

Learning Intentions:

- Students will be able to develop an understanding of fractions as numbers. (Denominators are limited to 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8)
- Students will be able to understand a fraction as a number on the number line; represent fractions on a number line diagram.
- Students will be able to explain equivalent fractions and compare fractions by reasoning about their size.

Success Criteria:

- Students will be able to describe in words, pictures, or video the difference between a numerator and denominator.
- Students will be able to identify, name, and draw unit fractions with denominators of 2, 3, 4, 6, and 8.
- Students will be able to identify and draw fractions on a number line.
- Students will be able to draw equal parts of a whole.
- Students will be able to identify, name, and draw fractions equivalent fractions or fractions of the same size.
