About CS4Utah

Welcome to the CS4Utah online community!

The purpose of the CS4Utah Initiative is to unify efforts across the state in computer science (CS) education and provide support and strategic direction for those efforts, resulting in a state-wide CS education ecosystem. This hub serves as an online community for teachers who integrate or specialize in CS across all grade levels. The hub includes resources, lesson plans, modules, group discussions, grant support, announcements, professional learning videos, and links to additional resources and lending libraries focused on computer science education as well as related areas, such as Information Technology (IT), maker education, and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) education. We welcome your participation in this community and hope you will both find and share resources to improve CS education throughout the state.

CS4Utah is comprised of educators, administrators, policy-makers, and industry representatives who promote the teaching and learning of CS in K-12 education across Utah. CS4Utah includes representatives from the Utah STEM Action Center, Talent Ready Utah, Utah State Board of Education Career and Technical Education and Digital Teaching and Learning divisions, Utah Education Network, Utah Computer Science Teachers Association, Utah Association of Career and Technical Educators, Utah System of Technical Colleges, Utah Afterschool Network, state higher education institutions, and state CS/IT industry.

On this episode of UEN PDTV, Michael travels up to North Logan to visit a computer science class at Green Canyon High School. Alison Ence, a computer science teacher, is learning with her students about the vast capabilities of virtual and augmented reality. Her students are not only using VR in the classroom but coding VR in the classroom. We find out that limitations don’t exist in this field beyond the scope of your own imagination.

On this episode of UEN PDTV, Michael visits Upland Terrace Elementary School to learn how teachers are integrating core curriculum studies with video games. With Minecraft EDU, students can build entire worlds to put what they learn from school into action.
